Abstract :
Liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) of REBa2Cu3O7-δ on lattice mismatched substrates requires high supersaturation. However, the solubility of RE´s in the fluxes used for growing REBCO is not widely known. In order to precisely control the supersaturation during growth, the solubility of RE´s in the Ba:Cu=2:5 solution were measured by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Mixing of the RE´s in the solution has led to a large increase in the overall RE solubility and, therefore, increase of the growth rate and homogeneity of REBCO thick films grown by LPE. Films of mixed RE´s with excellent in-plane c-texture and 100% density, have been grown on LaAlO 3, NdGaO3, SrTiO3, YSZ, MgO and Ni/NiO substrates at a mean rate of 1 to 2 μm/min. Tc´s of 91 K have been achieved and Jc´s over 6×105 A/cm 2 at 77 K
