Abstract :
The gyromagnetic switching process in longitudinal thin film recording media is studied by using numerical micromagnetics. The dynamic recording process of medium magnetization transition is examined in detail. The head field rise time required for the formation of a magnetization transition is studied at different deep gap field magnitudes for media with damping constants ranging from 0.01 to 1.0. The gyromagnetic switching limit on medium recording data rata is investigated for cases with various damping constants and record head field rise times
