Abstract :
Energy-efficient routing protocol is a key issue in designing a wireless sensor network. The AODV is a routing protocol that depends only on hopcount number, but not on energy and power [1]. This leads to central nodes´ exhaustion of energy and influences the entire network lifetime. In this paper, we propose a new power control mechanism in combination with routing protocol improved from the AODV. The proposed protocol is named as the Power-Control Combined with Routing Protocol (PRP for short). Simulation results show that the lifetime and energy of the networks deployed our protocol outperform than that obtained by the AODV protocol.
