Abstract :
Current problems in logic design, in particular those concerned with the design and implementation of digital systems using complex l.s.i. circuits, are discussed. It is argued that established switching theoretic methods, such as minimization, state-assignment etc., are no longer relevant, and that existing theory is inadequate for design at the subsystem level. The difficulties associated with the implementation of r.o.m. and multiplexer circuits are reviewed in detail and finally a summary is given of present day research in systems specification and design.
