Abstract :
It has been shown in the above letter that the use of multiphotodiode balanced detection (MPBD), in spectral-amplitude coding optical code-division multiple-access systems, reduces the effect of phase-induced intensity noise (PIIN) at a cost of added complexity. In this letter, we show that this claim is not true, and the MPBD scheme retains the effects of PIIN as the conventional balanced detector does.
