Abstract
The theory of class-J power amplifiers is reviewed. Based on the theory, a new output match method is proposed. Instead of the restricted impedance condition, we design the different fundamental and 2nd harmonic output impedances based on the variation tendency of termination impedance according to the different frequencies. Therefore, the PA can work efficiently in the band. A 10W GaN transistor device (CGH40010) is applied in the simulation. And the results show this method can enhance the PAE over 60% across a bandwidth of 1.6-2.5 GHz.
