Abstract :
Estimation of the Euclidean distance between a source node and a sink node by using the hop-counts between them is an interesting research problem in WSNs (wireless sensor networks). In this paper, we propose a novel source-to-sink distance estimation method based on the observation that the neighbors of a sink can have different hop-counts relative to the same source. The proposed method not only uses the hop-count information of a sink, but also exploits the hop-count information of the sink´s neighbors. Simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms other well-known hop-count-based source-to-sink distance estimation methods.
