Abstract :
A long dispersive fibre transmission experiment is achieved at 10 Gbit/s using a 1.3 mu m strained multiquantum well DFB laser diode (S-MQW DFB-LD). The linewidth enhancement factor of the S-MQW DFB-LD is found to be as low as 1, which is less than one-third that of conventional bulk DFB-LDs.
