Abstract
The degradation to the performance of detectors due to noise and interference uncertainty has already been investigated and brought to the fore in earlier publications. This study seeks to compare the performance of two types of detectors in the presence of multiple interference. The main focus is to present alternate expressions for the false-alarm and detection probabilities of an energy detector and matched filter detector in a form which presents the random SNR or SINR only in the exponent. This greatly facilitates computing the average of the random variables as a moment generating function (MGF). In general, the results can serve as a guideline in designing detectors in the presence of multiple interferers.
