Abstract :
We have previously shown that it is possible to measure losses of a conductor in almost any combination of field and current using calorimetric method. We now extend this technique to structures of conductors where the AC magnetic fields generated by the structure as a whole influence the losses of the individual conductors. Using our calorimetric technique we are able to measure the losses at specific locations within a coil or array. In this paper we present as examples loss measurements made on a simple solenoidal coil and in a multi-tape, high amperage conductor
