Abstract :
A number of research programs are run at undergraduate level by government and private organizations across the globe that fund research activities beyond ordinary coursework during the academic year. This paper analyzes the performance of one such program called Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP), in Qatar. The grants provided under UREP render the recipients with the opportunity to conduct original research under faculty supervision. We collected detailed statistics about this program to analyze its significance in terms of research output, benefits to the students, skill development and faculty involvement. We conducted a survey among the participant faculty and students to have an impartial and balanced opinion about the program.
