Abstract :
In February 2012, Apple sued Motorola to block the latter´s alleged standardization skullduggery of the 3G/UMTS technology. This column examines the charges and explores the issues of patent rights; standards-essential patents; and what are fair, reasonable, and nondiscriminatory (FRAND) terms and conditions.
