Abstract
In superconducting power machines, such as transformers and motors, an external magnetic field is applied to the superconducting wire. When the external magnetic field is applied to the superconducting wire, coupling loss is generated in the normal metal stabilizer. This paper describes the calculation of the coupling losses of the round HTS wires by the finite element method. Effects of filament arrangement and filament size of the round HTS wire are considered. Three types of filament arrangement (single layer, double layer and honey comb arrangement) are considered. Calculation results show that coupling loss of the single layer arrangement is the smallest among the three cases
