Abstract :
Advances in robotic technologies, reflected in commercially available and demonstrated capabilities, provide exceptional alternatives to the designer of new and upgraded production processes. The state-of-the-art of these technologies is discussed. Some of the research and application engineering which has extended and exploited these capabilities is described and some conceptual syntheses of advanced robotics and other industrial automation with hypothetical nuclear industry/laboratory tasks is provided. Nuclear industry applications are centered around tasks in hazardous and contaminating environments and with hazardous materials
