Abstract
A brief overview is presented of the ´file wrapper´, which is the documentation of the patent application in the US Patent Office for the ENIAC (electronic numerical integrator and computer). The author provides personal reminiscences along with a quick summary of major patent claims made and interferences that resulted in an 18-year pendency for the application before the granting of a patent in 1964.<>
