  • Abstract
The Houston Lighting and Power (HL&P) Company´s new fuel scheduling and accounting (FSA) function is discussed. The fuel scheduling and accounting function allows HL&P to accurately and efficiently schedule, dispatch, and monitor fuel usage throughout the entire HL&P system. In addition to minimizing the total cost of generation using the classical economic dispatch approach, FSA will dispatch generation taking into account various fuel delivery and operational constraints. A network model, fuel flow calculations, dynamic energy balance, fuel accounting, and fuel dispatch are discussed
