Abstract
Signal and noise characteristics around the recorded track edges of a CoCrTa perpendicular medium are investigated in a microscopic scale by magnetic force microscopy coupled with Fourier-analysis. The noise level within the recorded region is higher than that of DC erased region, and the medium noise near the both track-edges is higher than that measured at the recorded track center. Sharp off-track overwrite profiles are confirmed when the low-frequency signal (45 kFCI) is off-track overwritten by the high-frequency signal (200 kFCI)
