Abstract :
The motion of particles in a slider/disk interface was studied with a numerical model modified to include the Saffman lift force and the wall effect which are important for particle motion in the recessed region of sub-ambient pressure. It was found that the Saffman lift force has a significant effect on the motion of larger particles. It usually brings them sharply towards the fixed slider when they have larger velocity than that of the local air flow
