Abstract :
The determination of an appropriate value for write saturation current is addressed. A model is developed for write saturation using assumptions about the magnetization and standard calculation of read-back voltage. An empirical relationship specifying the dependence of read-back voltage on write current is found. An appropriate expression for magnetization of the tape is obtained. This magnetization function is substituted into an expression for read-back voltage, which is manipulated to obtain an expression for magnetization in terms of depth inside the tape. The recorded magnetization is then related to write saturation current. Experimental results for saturation current are presented and compared with the results of the model. The determination of an appropriate value for write saturation current
