Abstract
The popular algorithms for wideband source localization pass the data through a bank of narrowband filters, and use the narrowband signal model for subsequent processing of the filter-bank output. This requires a large time window over which the data must be collected. We propose a new low-rank signal model, which does not rely on the narrowband signal model. In this way we can avoid narrowband filtering. The model is applicable to arbitrary array geometries, and is useful in both far-field and near-field problems. A subspace algorithm for source localization using the new model is proposed, which requires significantly smaller time window to yield reliable results.
