Abstract :
SULFUR HEXAFLUORIDE GAS is found to have significant advantages both as a dielectric and as an interrupting medium.1 The unique characteristics of this gas make it particularly useful in switching high voltage capacitor banks and unloaded transmission lines. Experimental knowledge of the dielectric recovery of simple arc gaps in SF6 provides the possibility of straightforward quantitative design.
