Abstract :
A mathematical model of the magnetic field of a multipole magnetized permanent-magnet (PM) ring, which is being used as the rotor of a PM stepping motor, is obtained using a coupled boundary-element-finite-element method. The surface magnetic flux and the flux distributions in the magnet and air gap are calculated. The results are in good agreement with those measured using magnetoresistive sensors. An optimum design is obtained
