Abstract
The performance of different edge vector basis functions is compared for non-affine elements. Improved accuracy is measured by comparing the calculated eigenvalues of the electromagnetic field distribution in a cavity with analytical results. H(curl)-conforming basis functions are derived that preserve the optimal approximation properties of the finite element on non-affine hexahedra.
