Abstract :
For original paper see Podosenov et al. (IEEE Trans. Electromag. Compat., vol.37, p.367-83, 1996 August). After making comments on works previously published on transient radiation from nonsinusoidal current waves traveling along thin curvilinear wires, Podosenov et al. attributed the discrepancy between various results, for the simplest case with a linear antenna of finite length, to different solving processes. In the final analysis, the violation of Lorentz condition was taken to be the root cause. The present authors argue that the violation of Lorentz condition as the cause of the discrepancy is not a balanced criticism. They argue that to view the problem in nonsinusoidal traveling-wave radiation solely from the technological angle, the realization of a traveling wave along a linear wire segment itself is beset with difficulties.
