  • Abstract
    In this paper, we propose a theoretical method for extracting a thumbnail directly from an H.264/AVC intra frame in the frequency domain. Furthermore, the proposed scheme can extract the thumbnail very fast since all operations are directly applied to transformed coefficients and a lookup table (LUT) for each intra mode is used for this scheme. Through performance evaluation, while the subjective quality difference between our scheme and a conventional method is negligible, the former can extract the thumbnail faster than the latter by up to 63%.
