Abstract :
High-technology organizations are often cited as models for their rewards and recognition efforts to attract talent such as R&D engineers. Other benefits touted from rewards are reduced turnover, more innovation and higher productivity. Here, the authors argue that managers should not look for simple and permanent solutions with regard to rewards and motivation. As not all rewards are valued equally by all R&D professionals, managers should be willing to think and act creatively to meet the challenges associated with increasing demographic and cultural diversity in the workforce.
