Abstract
In this letter, a modified microstrip-fed planar antenna based on the classic Yagi-Uda dipole assembly is presented. This quasi-Yagi antenna has been developed using well-known design tables and relatively simple scaling to take into account the supporting dielectric substrate with relative dielectric constant around 2.5. Method of moments is used for two-step optimization of the antenna and the results agree well with the measurement. The proposed antenna is completely compatible with microstrip circuitry and should find applications in wireless communication systems.
