Abstract :
The effects of doping Lu2O3 into Gd2O3 on the phase transformation and luminescent properties were investigated. It was found that by doping Lu2O3, the phase transformation in Gd2O3 is prevented up to 1600degC at least. It is helpful to dope Lu2O3 into Gd2O3 for sintering the cubic Gd2O3 ceramics. Europium-doped lutetium gadolinium sesquioxide solid solutions, (Lu,Gd)2O3 :Eu, with intensive luminescence intensity, could be developed into a potential ceramic scintillator candidate for X-ray detection.
