Abstract :
An input buffered packet switch called the odd-even multicast switch is proposed. The packet splitting probability of the proposed switch is derived and the packet output contention is resolved using the cyclic-priority reservation (CPR) algorithm. The throughput and mean packet delay of the proposed switch are compared with a simple input buffered switch. It is found that the proposed switch gives a significant performance improvement at the expense of extra packet splitting overhead
