Abstract :
The bit error rate performance is reported of a broadband four-wave mixing scheme in a semiconductor optical amplifier using orthogonal pumps. This scheme is compared with single-pump four-wave mixing and a scheme using copolarised pumps. The broadband orthogonal-pump scheme has the best broadband error-rate performance
