Abstract :
The development of five expert systems of varying complexity is described. The five expert systems are: FAST, a system for the performance tuning of a large software system; Maven, a system for assigning Bellcore´s Common Language equipment codes; GADS, a diagnostic shell for constructing hot-line support applications; Bellcore´s OS-Assist system, a support tool for managers in directory-assistance offices; and Planner, a planning tool for determining calls setup signaling. The systems are briefly characterized and the lessons learned during development are summarized.<>
