    This Special Section on Automation of Software Test contains a selection of substantially extended and revised versions of best papers presented at the Fourth IEEE/ACM International Workshop on Automation of Software Test (AST´09) held at ICSE´09 in Vancouver, Canada, on 16th May 2009. These papers have been reviewed again by at least two experts in the subject area of test automation.
