Abstract
On 10 May 2011, members and officers of IEEE, officials of the Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison), and friends gathered at the Con Edison Learning Center in Long Island City, New York, in the shadow of the Queens boro Bridge, to dedicate an IEEE Milestone plaque. The celebration and luncheon recognized the historical significance of Thomas Edison´s first central generating plant, which began operating at 257 Pearl Street, Manhattan, in 1882.
