Abstract
A novel all-optical packet-switched architecture exhibiting low loss and reduced complexity whilst providing wavelength routing, optical buffering and add/drop capabilities is presented. The node is demonstrated to impose less than 1.5 dB power penalty on 2.5 Gbit/s payloads for routing, buffering and adding to or dropping from a local tributary
