Abstract :
In this study, equivalent electric current distribution along the semi-transparent ground plane excited by magnetic line current is evaluated analytically and numerically for arbitrary complex layer impedance of a semi-transparent sheet. Relevance to practical cases of thin dense sheet and periodic structure made of narrow strips interconnected by lumped components is demonstrated. Directivity patterns and ground-plane performance characteristics are analyzed. It is shown that ground planes with inductive layer impedance, in some cases, provide advantages for applications. In addition, a practical antenna design example that proves the considerations is also demonstrated.
