  • Abstract
This paper present Laura J. Manz as the forefront of smart grid technology. An IEEE Senior Member, Laura is now senior vice (resident, Western Region, of Viridity Energy, a company that uses smart grid technology to provide businesses, institutions, governmental entities, and university campuses with powerful tools to increase energy efficiency and decrease energy costs. Based out of San Diego, California, Manz is responsible for advancing Viridity Energy\´s strategic development and growth in the west. Manz encourages other young women to go into engineering because, "engineering education opens up more than just engineering. It opens up a way to tackle problems and communicate in a very universal way. An engineering education is hard work but well worth the effort to see it through".
