Simplicity in 3-phase system circuit conventions and concepts

It is very helpful in many types of circuits to arrange the circuit symbols in a pattern that suggests either the physical arrangement or the arrangement of the phasors, or possibly both. This is usually particularly helpful in showing the circuits of a polyphase machine, where the windings themselves are symmetrically arranged in the stator and the voltages are equally displaced.
