Abstract
The massive adoption of smartphones, mobile broadband modems, tablets, and mobile data applications are overwhelming wireless networks. Operators are buckling under the strain and cost of continuously adding capacity and improving coverage while maximizing the use of their existing spectrum assets. The strain on the network is expected to increase significantly over time as growth continues at over 100 percent Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) according to Cisco in its recent VNI mobile traffic report.
