Abstract :
A subjective quality test was performed to determine the extent to which low level and high level audio-video degradations are forgiven over time. The results show that the forgiveness effect initially greater for high level degradations. However, the forgiveness effect is more prolonged for low level degradations. A new method for calculating the forgiveness effect, based on rate of change in quality ratings over time, is presented
