Abstract :
Frequency halving in mode-locked external-cavity semiconductor lasers driven at the second harmonic of the external cavity resonance frequency is reported. It is shown that frequency halving occurs when the drive frequency is tuned only slightly above the second harmonic of the external cavity resonance frequency.
