Abstract :
Recently, in the spirit of BGK model, Dougherty and Watson have given a model for the Fokker-Planck equations which conserves particle number, momentum and energy, and also satisfies H-theorem. In the present note these model Fokker-Planck equations for a plasma of many species are used to study the transport properties. Following Grad, the distribution functions are expanded in terms of the generalized Hermite polynomials, and the expressions for viscosity, electrical conductivity and diffusion co-efficients are deduced from the transport equations and compared with the corresponding expressions for the BGK model.
