Abstract :
The power densities of electric power converters have increased over the last 30 years. The power density increment has been mainly achieved by a switching frequency increment of semiconductor power devices to reduce sizes of passive components. In this work, the impact of increasing switching frequency on the input filter volume is investigated in a matrix converter. A procedure is introduced for designing input filter of matrix converter with minimum volume by taking to account power quality standard requirements. Experimental results show the effectiveness of designed input filter.
