Abstract :
1.5 mu m compressive-strained multiquantum well four-wavelength distributed-feedback laser arrays have been fabricated with a low threshold current of 4.5-8 mA, a high speed of 5.8-6.6 GHz and a narrow linewidth of 2.5-7 MHz over a wide wavelength span of 40 nm. After transmission through 50 km dispersion-shifted fibre at 5 Gbit/s per channel, no power penalty due to either RF or thermal crosstalk between the channels was observed.
