Strategic planning for the future of our society [The president´s page]

Strategic planning for the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) has two goals: to prepare a long-term strategic plan to guide the direction and future of ComSoc and to organize discussion of solutions for shortterm challenges in specific areas identified by ComSoc´s volunteer leaders, Board of Governors or the Strategic Planning Committee itself. Strategic planning is crucial when the Society reaches a turning point or when it faces unexpected barriers. We perceive that ComSoc has reached such a turning point and must transform its organization and operation to align with the megatrends of the new Internet-driven world economy.
