Abstract
This paper presents selected aspects related to needs and possibilities of electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements in the upper part of microwave spectrum (60-90 GHz). Technological progress and continuous searching of larger bandwidth wireless transmissions demands operating on higher frequencies, like 71-76 GHz or 81-86 GHz (called E-band) in point-to-point systems. The market is already offering the E-band systems, which raise the need for exposure assessment related to work safety and environment protection. On the other hand there is also a lack of EMF meters covering E-band frequency range. In this paper presented a comparison of common radio communication systems with E-band. Shown the results of research related to E-band standard EMF setup development and the analysis of metrological possibilities of popular electromagnetic field broadband meters for measuring the EMF in the frequency range above its nominal band declared by the manufacturer.
