Abstract :
The benefits of using computer-based automation in the management, operation, monitoring and control of complex space subsystems are discussed. Electric power system concepts for space station Freedom are summarized, and the distributed software approach used is examined. The role of artificial intelligence and simulation and their synergistic use are described.<>
