  • Abstract
Generalized methods for the design of quasi-ideal symmetric and asymmetric coupled-line sections have been proposed. Two cases of coupled-line sections, in which the inductive coupling coefficient is either greater or smaller than the capacitive coupling coefficient, have been separately considered. To compensate for the coupling coefficients´ inequality, a combination of lumped capacitors and short coupled-line sections has been introduced into the coupled-line section. The proposed methods allow for designing quasi-ideal coupled-line sections in nearly arbitrarily chosen dielectric media and for arbitrarily chosen coupling. The theoretical analyses have been verified by the design and measurement of three compensated coupled-line directional couplers illustrating application of the proposed methods in different dielectric structures.
