The introduction of a novel performance chart which allows the selection of simultaneous noise, gain and VSWR specifications for a multistage low-noise amplifier equipped with given active devices is described. In addition, the individual goal function to be assigned to each equaliser network to fulfil the chosen specifications is provided. A design example is also included
