Abstract :
The paper discussed the new developments in land transportation system in different locations. Here are some of the developments discussed: In Vienna, train control system is ordered for Phase 4 extension of Wiener Linien. Sound transit extension to Sea Tac Airport in Seattle is operational. Nuovo Transporto Viaggiatori receives its first high speed trains from Alstom for testing on the Italian rail network. Berlin-Brandenburg Commuter Rail network to receive new double-decker electric multiple unit trains, one single-car Regio Shuttle diesel train and six diesel motor coaches from Stadler Pankow. TriMet in Portland Oregon starts construction of renewable energy substation. Reseau Ferre de France (RFF), the infrastructure company for the French National Railways, signed the first public/private/partnership in France with Synerail. Magyar Allamvasutak (MAV) has ordered 25 TRAXX P160 locomotives from Bombardier Transportation. Siemens and Nanjing SR Puzhen Rail Transport Co., Ltd. (Puzhen) have executed a suborder for 32 new intercity trains in accordance with a €450 million agreement between the two companies for the supply of components for intercity trains. In Switzerland, Stadler announced the delivery of the first of six new EMU train sets to Lausanne-Echallens-Bercher-Bahn (LEB).
