Abstract :
This paper presents the performance analysis of a co-generation energy system using a tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (TSOFC). In our experiment, a single tubular SOFC was investigated which has the power density of 35~40 W/cm2 and operating temperature between 600-800°C. The cathode and anode are made from Nickel (Ni) and Lanthanum Strontium Manganite (LSM) respectively. The electrolyte is made of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia 8 mole% ceramic powder with a thickness of 3×10-5 m. In practical, fuel cell is operated at two temperatures of 650°C and 750°C. For fuel flow rate of 250 ml/min, we got the maximum DC voltage of 1.1 V at operating temperature of 750°C. We also got the overall efficiency of the cell is about 50.06%. Hence, this renewable technology can be widely used for electrifying the remote areas where electricity is not available; besides in industry where huge thermal energy is needed for refrigeration or other heating purposes.
